October 2026 Swing Trades Recap: I Cut $TTWO at a Loss
Disclosure: As of October 31, 2026 I hold positions in CDNS, GOOG, NCLH, ORCL, TQQQ in the account this recap covers. This is a record of trades already taken, not a trade idea; open positions can change at any time after publication without notice. Not personalized investment advice. See full disclaimer below.
The Month in One Paragraph
3 swings closed in October, and 2 of them were losses I cut on the same morning. On October 30 I sold all of $TTWO at $193.55 and all of $INTC at $69.00 before the open, 4 days after closing $KOD for a win a week later than I should have. The bright spot was $NCLH, where I trimmed 1/4 of my calls at $3.20, close to double what I paid. I opened $GOOG and $TQQQ in the last 3 days of the month and finished October with 5 swings open.
Closed This Month
$TTWO
I opened $TTWO on August 31 at $219.97 as a starter, with room to add if it fell further. It fell, and I added twice on October 13 at $200 and $201, which brought my average down to about $211.10. On October 30 I decided staying in was the wrong call and sold the whole position before the open at $193.55. It works out to an 8.3% loss on my average and 12% below my first buy.

The adds lowered my cost, but they also made the position bigger right before it dropped 3% to 4% under both of those fills. The part I'll keep is the exit. Once I decided I was wrong I got completely out before the open instead of letting the loss run further.
$INTC
$INTC went on in this account on September 2 at $90.05, and I held it for almost 2 months with no adds and no trims. I sold all of it the same morning as $TTWO, before the open on October 30, at $69.00. I made the same call on both: staying in was wrong, and I'd rather take the loss than let it get bigger. It's a 23.4% loss, the deepest percentage hit of the month.
$KOD
$KOD was my top EP long of September 28, a day trade I kept as a swing at a $71.99 average. It started October strong, near $98.86 on October 1, about 37% above my cost, and I trimmed 1/3 into strength at the open on October 5. I closed the rest on October 26 for a win.
I should've closed it the week before, but I was on vacation and totally forgot about it. The fix I took from it is simple: every swing goes on a checklist with a reminder while I'm away, so nothing sits past its close point.
Adds and Trims
On October 29 I trimmed 1/4 of my $NCLH January 15, 2027 $15 calls at $3.20 to lock in profit. I bought them in late September at $1.62 and $1.63, a $1.626 average, so the trim came in about 97% above my cost.
$GOOG was messier. I opened it on October 29 at $281.85 as a starter and went in a little heavier than I meant to. When I went to trim half, I hit buy instead and added at $282.92, then made the real trim at $283.16, selling about 2/3 of what I held by then. The gain on the trim was small, about 0.5% over my first fill.
Still Open
$NCLH is the one that's working. I started the calls in late September and they run to January 2027, so time isn't the pressure on this one, and after the trim I still hold 3/4 of them. What would change the read is the cruise business itself, not a few ugly sessions.
$GOOG went on October 29 at $281.85 as a starter, and what's left is the piece I kept after the trim. It's only a few days old, so there's nothing in it to grade yet.
$TQQQ is the newest swing, bought October 30 at $63.91. It's a leveraged Nasdaq 100 fund, so this is a swing on the index trend itself rather than on one company, and it stops making sense if that trend rolls over.
$CDNS is the swing lot I opened in September, separate from the $CDNS I hold in my position account. Nothing happened to it in October.
$ORCL works the same way. This account's lot went on September 28 at $133.75, I hold $ORCL separately as a position trade too, and I didn't add to it or trim it in October.
Carrying Into Next Month
5 swings go into November, and 2 of them are less than a week old. $NCLH matters most because it's the one with a real gain behind it, and the read there is about the cruise business, not the calendar. October gave me 2 losses I cut and 1 winner I closed late because I was away, so the $KOD fix matters more to me than any single name on the book.
