Disclosure: As of October 31, 2026 I hold positions in AMZN, BE, CDNS, CNSWF, HOOD, META, MSFT, MSTR, ORCL, UNH in the account this recap covers. This is a record of trades already taken, not a trade idea; open positions can change at any time after publication without notice. Not personalized investment advice. See full disclaimer below.

The Month in One Paragraph

My position account made 2 trades in October, and both were buys on the same day. On October 30 I added to $AMZN at $234.97 and to $BE at $206.22. Nothing closed and nothing got trimmed, so the account ends the month holding the same 10 names it started with. For 29 days the book just sat there, which is pretty normal for this account.

Adds and Trims

$AMZN went first, at $234.97 on October 30. That fill is 9.1% above the $215.28 average cost I was carrying on the name before the add, so this buy pulled my cost up instead of down. It's my first add to Amazon since the one in my July portfolio update.

Amazon daily closes from mid to late October 2026, with the October 30 add marked.

$BE came later the same morning at $206.22. That's 5.6% under the $218.40 I paid on my last add, back on August 28, and it's the first time I've touched the position since that day. Both buys were adds to names I already own. I didn't open anything new in October and I didn't sell a single thing, not even a partial.

Still Open

$AMZN has been in the account since February. The read is the one I wrote up in June: Amazon as an AI infrastructure stock, with AWS and advertising doing more and more of the work on the profit side. I'm wrong on it if the infrastructure spending doesn't turn into durable profit, and the clearest version of that would be AWS growth slowing hard while capex stays high.

$BE is the AI power name I wrote up in June, and October's add is the only activity on it since August. The position stands or falls on whether AI power demand turns into profitable, repeatable revenue rather than announcements. If the orders stop showing up in the numbers, the read is broken no matter where I added.

$HOOD has been in the account since March, and I didn't touch it in October. I own it as a broader financial platform, not as a trading app. The read breaks if Robinhood turns back into a trading-volume story.

$ORCL goes back to February. I own it for the AI cloud build and the backlog behind it, and nothing happened on it this month. I'm wrong on it if that backlog never converts into profitable revenue.

$META sat still all month. I own it for the core ad business paying for the AI build, and I'm wrong on it if the AI spending starts eating the thesis instead of supporting it. That's the same AI buildout risk as the names above, just from the spender's side.

$UNH didn't get touched in October either. I bought it as a trust reset after a rough stretch, and the read breaks if the problems turn out not to be temporary, meaning medical cost ratios stay high even after repricing and Optum margins never come back.

$CNSWF is the quietest name in the account, and October was no different. It's an acquisition machine, and I'm wrong on it if that machine slows down or starts producing lower-quality deals.

$CDNS went on the book in September, and $MSFT and $MSTR are older holdings. All 3 sat untouched in October, with no adds and no trims on any of them.

Carrying Into Next Month

10 names go into November. The 2 I'm watching closest are the 2 I just bought more of, $AMZN and $BE, because they lean on the same AI buildout, and the thing that breaks both is spending that never shows up as real orders and real margins. $ORCL sits in that same bucket too. That means one bad read on AI spending would hit 3 of my names at once, not 1, and that's the risk I'm carrying into the month.
